Accepted four Category I administration codes (0091A, 0092A, 0093A, 0113A) for Moderna pediatric patients.
Codes (0091A, 0092A, 0093A) are intended for the Moderna vaccine product in pediatric patients aged 6 through 11 years. These codes are to be reported with previously established Moderna vaccine product code 91309. Code (0113A) should be reported with code 91311 for pediatric patients aged 6 months through 5 years.
Appendix Q has been updated to reflect these additions. These codes were published on July 6, 2022 and will be effective upon receiving Emergency Use Authorization or approval from the Food and Drug Administration.
Codes 0081A, 0082A, 0083A, 0091A, 0092A, 0093A, revised 0094A, 0111A, 0112A, 0113A, 91308 and 91311 were effective on June 17, 2022. The revision to code 0094A is effective July 6, 2022.
These CPT codes, developed based on extensive collaboration with Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), are unique for each of four coronavirus vaccines as well as administration codes unique to each such vaccine and dose. The new CPT codes clinically distinguish each COVID-19 vaccine for better tracking, reporting and analysis that supports data-driven planning and allocation.
With this newest release of SARS-CoV-2-related CPT codes, along with releasing the standard code descriptor PDF, we are also releasing an easy to use Excel file of just the SARS-CoV-2-related CPT codes. The file contains all the SARS-CoV-2-related CPT codes, some of which may not be in the 2022 CPT data file, and includes:
CPT code descriptors (long, medium, and short)
Type of change.
As new SARS-CoV-2-related CPT codes are approved by the CPT Editorial Panel, the AMA will publish updates to these files.
